NEWSLETTER: From Calgary to Montréal: The Battle Continues!
Friends,
A few months ago, I asked you to bet on me.
I told you I needed to get to the Conservative Party convention in Calgary—to witness firsthand the debates, the tone, and the direction of a movement poised to shape our country. I told you that independent journalism needed to be in that room.
And you responded.
Because of your generosity, I was there. I saw the dynamics you can't capture in a press release. I felt the energy in the hall. I reported back on what was said publicly, what was signaled privately, and what it all means for Canadians.
That trip was a success because of you. But I'll be honest: it was also a wake-up call. I underestimated the costs, and I almost got stranded in Calgary. I learned a lot about what it actually takes to do this work the right way.
Now, I'm asking for your support again, but for a different kind of story.
The Liberal Convention: A New Kind of Coverage
In April 2026, the Liberal Party of Canada will hold its national convention in Montréal. This is the other side of the coin. This is the party in power, setting its course for the next fight.
And I need to be transparent with you: I support this party.
I've spent a lot of time analyzing and reporting on a movement I find deeply troubling, and it takes a toll. I'm tired of only writing about what I oppose. I want to write about what I respect, to apply the same independent, good-faith, clear-eyed reporting to a party whose aspirations I share.
That means understanding the internal debates, the policy battles, the generational shifts, and the genuine challenges facing the Liberal Party from the inside. It means giving you—whether you're a supporter, a skeptic, or just a concerned citizen—an honest account of what happens when the people in power get in a room to decide their future.
The Good News and The Reality
The good news is that, as a youth member, my ticket is only $249. That part is covered.
The reality is that everything else is more expensive than I anticipated. Partner hotels start at $260 a night. Travel costs have gone up. And after Calgary, I know I cannot afford to cut corners. I need to do this safely and sustainably so I can focus entirely on the reporting.
Here's where your support comes in:
Your contributions will go directly toward covering my travel, my accommodation, and basic food and transit. It will also provide a small buffer to ensure that, unlike last time, I don't end up (almost) stranded.
In return, I promise you this:
- On-the-ground reporting from inside the convention hall.
- Honest analysis of the policy debates and leadership signals.
- A fair look at a movement I believe in, without the rose-colored glasses.
If you found value in my reporting from Calgary, and if you believe that independent voices belong at every major political gathering in this country, I hope you'll consider chipping in.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for supporting independent media. And thank you for making this work possible.
On to the next one.
