ADAMS: Doug Ford Wins Again. Are You KIDDING Me??

Conservative Nonsense Jun 5, 2022

So I wake up and check the news and yeah, somehow Doug Ford wins a second majority government in Ontario. I seriously don’t even know what to say anymore.

This guy is LITERALLY the most hated premier in the history of this province. He's been cutting social programs, fucking with health care, wasting money, screwing over teachers and nurses, like it's a full-time job for him. And he gets re-elected?? How?? I'll tell you how. Voter apathy. That's it. People just didn't vote. Like yeah, I'm 16 so I can't even vote yet (even tho I actually want to), but you've got grown adults who can and just don't. Like they straight up sit home and do NOTHING, and then turn around and complain when everything gets worse.

Only like 43% of the province even bothered to show up. That means over half the province just didn't care. And even worse? Over 2 million people voted for other parties. Like between the Liberals, NDP, Greens, New Blue, Ontario Party, NOTA, and the Populist Party. That's more than Ford got. WAY more.

But cuz of our busted First Past the Post system, Ford gets to be elected by a minority of the province. That's not democracy. That's not fair. That's a broken system. How can the majority of the province not vote for the guy, and he still gets to rule like a king?

It's honestly gross. He gets to keep on cutting stuff, wasting our money on dumb stuff nobody asked for, and people act shocked like we didn’t see this coming.

This system is broken. We need to:

  • lower the voting age to 16. I care more than most adults do. If I am employed, I pay income tax and fund the social safety net. If I can pay so much as a dime in taxes, I should get a say.
  • To get rid of First Past the Post. It’s outdated and totally unrepresentative.
  • To start talking about Direct Democracy. The NOTA Direct Democracy Party has ideas that actually make sense, where people get a real voice in decisions instead of just voting every 4 years and hoping for the best.

We can't keep doing things like this. We need change. And it should've started yesterday.
